#05 Simply Hearts

Just a quick preview of the necklaces that are close to completion for the market stall, only the extension chains that I'm waiting to be delivered is to be added to these pieces. The necklaces are 16 inches in length without extension chain. If you like to see the process of these pieces here is the link.

I'm really pleased with the out come of these pieces so far. Please keep popping into my blog because I have red and blue pieces to show there development too.

#04 Simply Hearts

I'm currently doing a lot of research, on where I will be starting my first market stall and aiming it to be in Glasgow. I have emailed some market places and now waiting for a response. I've decided to work on the Simply Hearts Collection in time for Valentines however there will be loads of different items there too. I have varied some designs that you may recognised from my etsy store.

I created some love hearts broaches that can be worn as a accessory on clothes or a trendy hat. These items below are not sanded and varnished yet. Thought I show what my designs look like before I craft them into shape.

Pretty rough looking just now aren't they. :) Below are the matching pendants. However not decided yet what style of chains, ribbon or leather for the pendents to be on yet. Again these items below are not sanded or been varnished apart from the white heart if you look closer you can see the edges are smoothly curved.

I have made two of each kind however not one are the same because I handcraft them, there will always be a slight difference. The brooches below these ones have been sanded and varnished to give the brooch a smooth and glossy look. I'm currently waiting on the broach back to be place on and they be finished for the market stall.

This one is a set. Again waiting to be finished. I'm just waiting on my deliveries to finish them off.

I'm currently making different colours in red and navy. I will blog those too ,so you can see the differences from the lighter range of the Simply Heart to the darker shades of colours. Unfortunately these are not for my etsy store at the moment but for the market. Don't worry if you like my work and you fancy coming along to my market stall I let you know in good time when the dates are and let you know via blogger, twitter and FB. I have been quiet on twitter its just that I'm very busy at the moment working on this and CGI for film for a client and if I'm not busy enough I'm also in fashion show in February so full steam ahead. Once the items are finished I'll blog them so u can see what they look like.

Getting Organised

The last couple of days in the evenings as my days are filled with work for clients, auditions and a part time job. I have started taking a stock take of all my newly created jewellery pieces. This means I have decided to go in to the public air and find some market places that will let me have a store to sell my art work and jewellery. Above is a small sample of organising my jewellery. I've put them into little pouches so I know that they are finished and to be kept clean for sale.

Mother has been helping me with the admin side of things typing up each item and counting how pieces they are and calculating how much items to make a market store look flourishing. As I know working in retail which helped me through university a empty shelf does not look good to customers.

I've still got a lot of handcrafted pieces to make and waiting on deliveries to complete my designs. However I'm aiming for the end of January or mid February which is Valentines.

When the time comes I let you know when I the Emporium is open. Until then I be nattering on about various things that come to mind.

Orlandi's Bday

This is the necklace I made for a good friend of mine for his birthday. Made from polymer clay sanded down for a smooth finish and then varnished.

First item for a male. pretty pleased with how it has turned out I've not made any more male items for my etsy emporium yet I'll keep posted you never know what may turn up in my emproium.

# 01 Luv Bugs daisy chains

Here is a few concept designs I drew to create the jewellery for Luv Bugs. I wanted to make a collection of work that themed bugs. I wanted something cute. Various kinds of bugs came to mind however I settled with ladybirds and bumble bees for now. Though one of my bff's is nicknamed Bee. Which has lead me to call the bee charms Rebecca Bee.

I didn't want just a cord or leather thong or a silver chain to begin with I wanted somehing fun. When you usally see these critters its in the spring. I also thought of flowers made from beads. I did some research and found beaded daisies and in corporated them into my designs.

I made the charms from polymer clay and fired them and then simply varnished them. Now I have a few bracelets. I enjoyed putting these together.

This one bellow is for evening or smart casual occasions ruby red glass beads when the light shines through the red reflects when on a surface and I find it quite lovely.

#2 Wondering Raine Collection

Just a quick blog to launch some items I've added to the emporium. The Wondering Raine Collection. That's is my painting above. Oil on canvas and is for sale. If you like my painting I be happy to hear from you. Find out more about my painting via this link a blog I keep on total arts soul.

Below is Raine's heart like in the painting she is holding. I embedded a Swarovski rhinestone into the clay after firing.

Below is a simplified design of Raine from the painting. The findings are Stirling silver. at the moment these pieces are one of kind I have no plans to make the earrings bellow again. However I may do with Raine's heart above.

#2 Simply Hearts Illustration

I decided to do an illustration for the simple hearts collection like I did for the clay bears. I have done a blog on Total Art Soul if you like to catch up via this link. I plan to put my art work my store or create an online shop such as Zazzle. That can make prints, T shirts and cups etc. If you feel my jewellery may not be your style perhaps my art will be. This illustration above i think will be nice on T-Shirt or as a print if you are into fashion illustration. By now you probably visited my emporium more than once and read blogs and wondering who I am. Well while I was updated my website I deleted my 'About' web page and been feeling stupid since.

I graduated in 2009 in 3D Computer Animation before that I completed a HND in Graphic Design and Illustration. Since I have tried to make my way in this world and it not been easy. I take on freelance work and have 2 yorkshire terriors there's a bit about me until i get my page up and running again.

I've created more handmade items, which is an addition to the simply hearts collection and already in my emporium. I spend the most of the day yesterday putting the key findings together and then took loads of photo's so you can see what my pieces are like. Then I browsed some online stores looking for cute outfits that would look great with my handmade items. I wish I had this top to model my jewellery in. I doubt boohoo will give me this top as a freebie.

Below is the white heart and leather bracelet will be a lovely accessory with this outfit above. I might buy this top any way and swan about in my new handmade jewellery and go 'La De La' or perhaps not. This top is also great for casual wearing with layers and chilling at festivals if that's your thing.

Below is also with the simply hearts collection I made all the hearts from polymer clay and put together with ribbon all pieces from this range is with antique gold findings. This is 18 inches in length.

This necklace below is one of my favourites from the simply hearts collection. I'm into white at the moment, I don't know why, however I also like the dangling pearl which jiggles about too.This piece is 28 inches in length it sits near the tummy.

#1 The Clay Bears

When I was designing the clay bears it did not occur to me to see what trends were on the high street. I had the idea again, when I was out and about with a good friend of mine shopping. We were chatting about creative things for she is an artist too and the idea filled my head because I was thinking of ideas for designs to go in my online emporium.

I have made 7 bears, though 6 are online to buy and the other one will be added at a later date. Since making the bears I've been seeing bears every where. Well I say I've noticed them a lot more since I made them even though I've not seen the connection until I wanted to write my blog. I was thinking to my self how the clay bears fit in with high street and fashion. I was in H&M few days ago and saw bear hats. That's when it reminded me of the pic I took via my mobile. Realising then that my designs match cute animal hats that are being sold on the high street as winter comes near.

This hat is so cute I love it and I want it. I thought I missed buying this however its online and I'm going to get it because if I don't it be a life time regret.

Bellow is bear with with pink stripes on 16inch silver plated chain and a 2 inch silver plated extension chain. At the side its pink then on the back is black. I liked the idea of the pink sandwiched in the between. The heart has a swarovski crystal rhinestone embedded it is called rose.

Bellow is black bear with little pink heart this one been getting the most attention who is seen my work at home. They say its because of the size of the heart on the bear. This is on a 16inch silver plated chain and a 2 inch silver plated extension chain

#1 The Wondering Raine Collection

Hello and welcome to reading my first blog. VMD Emporium is the name for my online store. The name came many months later. What did come first was a chat with a good friend of mine about sugar skulls and me wanting her to make them. It was over 5 months ago when I think back. She did give a reason why she didn't want to make my sugar skull earrings. Which to date I really can't remember. Firstly all I had was sugar skulls on my mind and was excited about the idea and making Jewellery.

Well I have a passion for skulls and wanting to make them all cute and pink. Before I went ahead to design sugar skulls jewellery. I wanted to introduce to the world my current work. Which is my painting oil on canvas Wondering Raine. You can find my blog about the painting on total arts soul. I have exhibited my painting and I got loads of compliments, sadly no one has bought her yet. She will go to a good home one day its just case of 'when' it can be a common thing amongst artist that it can take a some time to sell paintings.

So it popped into my head to turn her into a wearable canvas. That's when I researched into jewellery making and found out about polymer clay. I did loads of designs and experimented and made something I like.

This design was my first one I made and I consider it a feature piece. Handmade with silver plated findings and glass amethyst coloured beads. and its 16 inches in length. The beads are to represent the sky, like in my painting.

I call this Raine's heart. She carries her heart as seen in the painting and I wanted to bring that into a piece of jewellery.

Below there is another design also silver plated with the same beads, this time added with a single bead to symbolise the moon. the silver bead is also glass. The necklace has a pink leather thong also 16 inches in length.
